Attack of the Vine! is almost on store shelves — and Prerelease weekend is how most Illumineers get first crack at the set. Events run at local game stores on July 17, 2026: open product early, play Sealed or Pack Rush, and meet the table next to you before mass release.
Find a seat through the Ravensburger Play Hub, register so the store holds your spot, then show up ready to crack packs. Hosts walk newcomers through the flow if this is your first Prerelease.
What’s in the Prerelease Box
Stores sell Attack of the Vine! Prerelease Boxes for the event only. Each box includes six booster packs, four damage dice, an exclusive poster, and one random promo card.
How you’ll use it
- Six packs feed Sealed builds or a few Pack Rush rounds
- Damage dice keep character damage readable mid-game
- Poster art leans into vintage B-movie monster vibes using Enchanted card illustrations
Sealed vs Pack Rush
Most Prereleases center on Sealed: open those six packs and build a 40-card deck on site. You may use all six inks, and the usual four-copies-per-glimmer limit does not apply.
Pack Rush is the shorter on-ramp. Two boosters make a 24-card pile with no ink-pair restriction. Marketing cards from the packs start in your inkwell as ink, you draw five instead of seven, and the first player to 15 lore wins. Same core rules otherwise — just faster.
Mechanics worth a glance before you sit down
Attack of the Vine! brings Monsters, Inc., Up, and Turning Red into the card pool and adds the Team classification. A few Shift variants change how you stack characters:
Shift & Vine cheat sheet
- Combo Shift — play the Team card onto either character named on it
- Duo Shift — both characters need to be in play before you shift on top
- Temporary Shift — classic red-panda trick: shift for the turn, then that card returns to hand at end of turn
- Vinelings — vine-made copies of glimmers that reward other Floodborn on your side
